(AP) ? There's nothing like a backwoods blood feud to excite television viewers on Memorial Day.

The first part of the History network's miniseries "Hatfields & McCoys" was seen by 13.9 million viewers on Monday night, more than 17 million when the immediate repeat was added in, the Nielsen company said. The numbers held up for part two on Tuesday, which was watched by 13.1 million, Nielsen said.

Those are huge numbers in the cable television world. No scripted series on the broadcast networks last week came close. By contrast, Fox's series finale of "House" last week reached 8.7 million people.

"Hatfields & McCoys" had a couple of big-name stars in Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton and is airing over three nights in two-hour chunks. Broadcast television was dominated by competition shows again last week, led by the 21.5 million people who watched the "American Idol" finale on Fox. "Dancing With the Stars" and "America's Got Talent" also did well.

Perhaps crowded by the marketplace, ABC's "Duets" finished a modest No. 23 in the ratings, with 6.8 million viewers. Fox's summer series "So You Think You Can Dance" also came out of the gate slowly, with 6.3 million viewers.

Led by "Idol," Fox won the week with an average of 8.3 million viewers in prime time (4.9 rating, 9 share). ABC had 7.4 million (also 4.9, 9), CBS had 5.8 million (3.9, 7), NBC had 4.6 million (3.0, 5), ION Television had 1.1 million (0.7, 1) and the CW had 680,000 (0.5, 1). Among the Spanish-language networks, Univision led with 3.7 million (2.0, 3), Telemundo had 1.1 million (0.6, 1), TeleFutura had 510,000 (0.3, 0), Estrella had 210,000 and Azteca 110,000 (both 0.1, 0).

NBC's "Nightly News" topped the evening newscasts with an average of 7.8 million viewers (5.3, 11). ABC's "World News" was second with 7.2 million (4.9, 10) and the "CBS Evening News" had 5.4 million viewers (3.8, 8).

A ratings point represents 1,147,000 households, or 1 percent of the nation's estimated 114.7 million TV homes. The share is the percentage of in-use televisions tuned to a given show.

For the week of May 21-27, the top 10 shows, their networks and viewerships: "American Idol" (Wednesday), Fox, 21.49 million; "Dancing With the Stars Results," ABC, 17.75 million; "Dancing With the Stars," ABC, 16.84 million; "American Idol" (Tuesday), Fox, 14.85 million; "Modern Family," ABC, 10.07 million; "America's Got Talent" (Monday), NBC, 9.66 million; "America's Got Talent" (Tuesday), NBC, 9.44 million; "NCIS" (Tuesday, 10 p.m.), CBS, 9.34 million; "NCIS" (Tuesday, 9 p.m.), CBS, 9.17 million; "Dancing With the Stars" (Tuesday, 8 p.m.), ABC, 8.84 million.

Visiting Resorts In Jamaica | Travel and Leisure Blog

Jamaica is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the world. There is good reason for that. This tropical island is home to pristine beaches, incredibly clean water, mouthwatering cuisine, a world of amenities and friendly people. What more could you ask for when traveling? The most difficult aspect of traveling to Jamaica is choosing the right place to stay. That being the case, we will look at the best resorts in Jamaica and lead you in the right direction.

When it comes to the best resorts in Jamaica, you have to go with a Sandals property. There are seven of them to choose from. They each offer something different so pay careful attention, heed the advice given and you will be well on your way to the best vacation of your entire life.

Beaches is one of the top resorts in Jamaica. This has everything to do with amenities. Here you will find pools, beaches, tennis courts, an outdoor restaurant, indoor fine dining, a romantic pier with a bench to enjoy sunset views, boating activities and more. Another good option is Wyndham. However, this is a very basic hotel. The outdoor fountains, balconies, outdoor pool and outdoor bar are the biggest selling points. Just don?t expect to be blown away. Iberstor Rose Hall is quality. The beach, pool, staff and food are all impressive. At the same time, there is nothing overly memorable about this location.

Moving to the north side of the island, we have Sandals Royal Plantation. This property is near the St. Ann Mountains and the Ocho Rios Rivera. This is the perfect place to stay if you don?t like crowds and you enjoy nature and exploring. There are 77 suites here. Every single one of them comes with an ocean view.

If you?re looking for romance, then go straight to Sandals Negril. This property is located on the famous seven-mile beach, which means a lot of space when you?re looking to suntan as well as beauty as far as the eye can see when you?re looking out over the water. This is an environmentally friendly resort with unique architecture.

Sandals Grand Rivera is the prettiest of all the Sandals resorts. That?s because it?s set on a 110-acre preserve that?s part of a rainforest. Therefore, you have mountain views to one side and the beach to the other. There are also gardens, streams and 100 pools to enjoy.

Sandals Montego Bay has been around forever and people still flock to it. That?s because it has the largest beach and the cleanest water on the island. There are also roofed huts on the beach for guests to enjoy.

Finally, we have the Sandals Carlyle, which is best suited for couples. This is one of the smaller resorts in Jamaica. While it has all the basic amenities, two great features are that it?s home to two gourmet restaurants and it?s only five minutes from the airport.

Skating is both a hobby and professional sport that requires skill to master and flow smoothly on ice. For people who have a love and passion for it, it can prove rewarding as much as it can also be challenging. Most people participate in one of montreal canadiens two categories of the activity, figure skating or hockey skating. Figure skating is more leisure driven but is also used in skill competitions where precision and skill on the ice are awarded large prizes. Hockey skating is more competitive and very different as it is a sport.Riedell IS are made with more than 60 years of experience manufacturing skate blades for different purposes. Getty ImagesHello, this is a feature that will run through the entire season and aims to recap the weekend?s events and boils those events down to one admittedly superficial fact or stupid opinion about each team. Feel free to complain about it.

You?re going to hear a lot of talk throughout the Stanley Cup Finals about how shocking all of this is.

The No. 6 Devils coming out of the East to take on the ultra-dominant-and-somehow-No. 8 Kings. The first matchup since the current playoff system began in which either a 6 or 8 is guaranteed to win the Cup. The only other 6 and 8 seeds to even make it are Calgary in 2004 and Edmonton in 2006 (though more than a few 7 seeds have made it through to the finals, the most recent being Philadelphia in 2010).

What intriguing underdog stories. Except not really.

(Coming Up: Simon Gagne cleared for Kings; imagining Lamoriello with the Rangers; why Shea Weber should win Norris; John Davidson and the Flames; Dominik Hasek?s comeback; Zach Hamill traded for Chris Bourque; tampering by the Leafs?; Jamal Mayers and the Blackhawks; Stars move up for Alex Galchenyuk?; no Ryan O?Reilly talks yet; free Jets tickets controversy; Steve Yzerman?s goalie chase; Adam Henrique?s hero moment; and we?re losing a great hockey joke in Cristobal Huet.)

This perception exists because the NHL seeding system is patently ridiculous, as has been discussed in the past. Yeah, LA crumpled teams Nos. 1-3, and New Jersey knocked off Nos. 3, 5 and 1 en route to these Cup Finals, but let?s be realistic here.

The Devils were the ninth-best team in the league this season, one of 10 to break 100 points, and had the benefit of playing a genuinely bad Florida team in the first round while the East?s other 100-point teams cannibalized each other to an extent. But that?s not to say they weren?t very, very good all season. They are, in fact, the best No. 6 seed in Eastern Conference history, and one of only three to crack the century mark (the others being these same Devils in 2004 and the Rangers in 2006, both of which had 100 even).

But if there?s one underdog storyline for the Eastern Conference champions, it?s not that Ilya Kovalchuk is now living up to his galactic potential, or that Bryce Salvador has suddenly become a world-beating two-way defenseman, or that the coach who got fired in Florida is now in the Stanley Cup Finals.

It?s that everyone agreed that New Jersey had one weakness: In net.

Most figured Marty Brodeur was one-and-done, and probably only because of how bad Florida was. Understandably so, because he?s now 40 years old and hasn?t exactly looked like the vintage Marty Brodeur over the last few years. This postseason, though, he?s certainly shown the flashes of what made him one of the greatest goaltenders of all time, even if he still has a couple senior moments here and there.

More egregious, though, will be the fawning over the Cinderella Kings, who have captivated an apathetic and clearly somewhat confused ?nontraditional? market they?ve only been in for 45 years with their series of decisive knockout victories against heavily favored opponents.

Yeah, they edged into the playoffs for sure. If you count finishing five points ahead of the 10th-place team as ?edging.? They also finished just two points out of the division lead, which would have made them a No. 3. But they didn?t, so maybe it?s fair enough. But if you consider that this team took off like a shot the second they fired Terry Murray, maybe not.

Under Murray and his four-game stand-in, John Stevens, the Kings went 15-14-4, an 84ish-point pace. Under new coach Darryl Sutter, they went 25-13-11, a 102-point pace. Having 102 points would have won them the division with ease, and tied them for fourth in the West. They were even better after acquiring Jeff Carter, going 13-5-3,?a small-sample-size pace for 113 points.

The point is that it?s not as if either of these teams weren?t phenomenal once they got going this season, and that any talk of them being underdogs is wholly overblown and patently ridiculous.

These aren?t the 2006 Oilers, and they?re not the 2003 Ducks, relying on gimmicks and hot goaltenders to get where they are in short-burst successes. These are teams that have been playing top-quality hockey since at least December, each with rosters positively littered with All-Stars past and present, and anyone who?s been paying attention knows that.

The only way in which they?re underdogs is because of where they ended the season in the standings, which don?t make sense anyway.

What We Learned

Anaheim Ducks: Might Justin Schultz?s continual refusal to sign with the team that drafted him be the result of tampering on the part of ? you guessed it ? the Toronto Maple Leafs? No one?s sayin?, they?re just sayin?.

Boston Bruins: The Bruins traded the RFA rights to Zach Hamill for the UFA rights to Chris Bourque, who is of course Ray?s son. The good news is there won?t be much of a shadow for Bourque to live up to, since his chances of playing in the NHL next year are minimal at best. He?s merely a very good NHL player who doesn?t have the size or complete package to make it in the show, despite being a second-round pick that one time (though that was because of who his dad is). Hamill, meanwhile, was a No. 8 overall pick who never panned out.

Buffalo Sabres: Former Sabre Dominik Hasek is thinking about returning to the NHL at the tender age of 47. If Buffalo signs him, they?ll finally have someone willing to defend Ryan Miller.

Calgary Flames: There was a rumor floating around that the Flames had approached John Davidson about a hockey ops job, or John Davidson approached the Flames, or something like that. Not true, says everyone involved.

Carolina Hurricanes: It?s time to consider whether the Hurricanes are actually good at drafting. Jeff Skinner and Justin Faulk? Both are great, and both were drafted in 2010. But from 2005 through 2008, the team drafted just three players who have played 100 or more games at the NHL level.

Chicago Blackhawks: The Blackhawks re-signed Jamal Mayers the other day, which creates more questions about the future makeup of the team than answers. They now have 15 guys looking to fill 12 forward spots.

Colorado Avalanche: The Avs are having talks with a number of free agents, both restricted and un-. However, not included among those in contract negotiations is Ryan O?Reilly, perhaps the best of the bunch.

Columbus Blue Jackets: Vinny Prospal is coaching a kids? summer hockey team for two weeks and being really demanding about it. ?The one guy I get all of this from would be John Tortorella,? Prospal said. No word on the number of F-bombs dropped in post-game pressers.

Dallas Stars: The Stars aren?t picking in a lottery spot but might they try to move into one to scoop up Alex Galchenyuk? The linked blog thinks a package like Richard Bachman and Brenden Morrow gets it done, but keep dreamin? on that one.

Detroit Red Wings presented by Amway: Wings executives will soon meet to discuss free agency options to improve the team and one suspects that big white board in the middle of the room will just have a picture of Ryan Suter on it, circled 400 times.

Edmonton Oilers: The Oilers plan to go ?outside the box? for their next coach, which means we?re just weeks away from the formal announcement: How do you like the sound of ?player-coach Ryan Nugent-Hopkins??

Florida Panthers: Jonathan Huberdeau?s season is finally over, his Saint John Sea Dogs having been eliminated from the Memorial Cup. Next season, he?ll almost certainly be on the Panthers roster full-time. Remember, he had eight points in the preseason last year.

Los Angeles Kings: Simon Gagne cleared for game action just in time for the Stanley Cup Finals. What a coincidence.

Minnesota Wild: Where does the Wild?s rebuild go from here? After they signed Mikael Granlund on Thursday, they now have six kids around 20 years old who will be turning pro this season. ?I?ve been doing this 19 years, I?ve never had six 20-year-old forwards turning pro in the same year,? Chuck Fletcher said. They might also make a run at either Zach Parise or Ryan Suter.

Montreal Canadiens: A pair of assistants in Tampa are probably going to get a crack at winning the Habs? vacant head coaching job. And even if they don?t make the cut, they might get assistant jobs in Montreal anyway. Both are, it will shock you to learn, from Quebec.

GettyNashville Predators: Here?s why Shea Weber should win the Norris. Hint: It?s because he was better than Chara, based on stuff like math.

New Jersey Devils: Lou Lamoriello is a great architect of a great team. But in typical New York media fashion, Mike Lupica has to wonder aloud, ?[Y]ou wonder what happens over the last two decades, certainly the time since the Rangers won their last Stanley Cup, if Lamoriello had been working at the Garden instead of Jersey.? What does that even mean?

New York Islanders: Isles prospect Scott Mayfield had a pretty good rookie season at Denver, where he put up 12 points from the blue line. Perhaps more importantly, the 6-foot-4, 200-pound 20-year-old led the team in penalty minutes, so he seems pretty mean, which will serve him well at the pro level.

New York Rangers: John Tortorella acknowledges that it will be tough for the Rangers to keep this group together. Notable free agents on the Ranger roster include Ruslan Fedotenko, Brandon Prust, Mike Del Zotto, and that?s it. Not as hard as you might expect then?

Ottawa Senators: The Senators? newly-signed prospect Darren Kramer has an idea beyond to keep him paid even if his hockey career never pans out: A double-twist-off peanut butter jar for people who have big hands. No one ever went broke pandering to the freakishly large hand market.

Philadelphia Flyers: The Flyers won the Richards and Carter trades but still wasted a bunch of money on a product-of-his-system-just-ask-Mike-Smith goalie and came no closer to a Stanley Cup, so did they really win? Jury?s still out.

Phoenix Coyotes: Speaking of Mike Smith, he wants goaltending coach Sean Burke to come back. So much so that he might let it influence his decisions when his contract is up next summer. Free advice to Mike Smith: Stay in Phoenix until people think your phenomenal performances were the result of your talent, not your coach. Then you cash in like Bryz did.

Pittsburgh Penguins: The Pens recently signed 2012 sixth-round draft pick and Barrie Colts defenseman Reid McNeil, who?s big but not necessarily likely to put up similarly-sized numbers.

San Jose Sharks: Important Patrick Marleau update ? He looks like a young Alex Trebek.

St. Louis Blues: The CEO of the St. Louis Blues is now the former CEO of the St. Louis Blues, as he resigned from his post on Friday as the team continues its front office makeover under new ownership.

Tampa Bay Lightning: Steve Yzerman is leaning toward finding a good younger goalie and not necessarily a good old one. Of course, compared with Dwayne Roloson, Roberto Luongo is one of the youngest people in the world.

Toronto Maple Leafs: Despite moving to the hated Habs, outgoing assistant GM Rick Dudley says the Leafs are ?so close? to being good. And yet so far.

Vancouver Canucks: Hey that thing Alain Vigneault said about how Roberto Luongo wanted to get traded? Tooooootally didn?t mean it like that. C?mon now. Who would think such a thing?

Washington Capitals: Tomas Vokoun is probably done in Washington but wants to stay in the NHL. Gotta think he gets another one-year, cut-rate deal after that season, right?

Winnipeg Jets: The whole ?free Jets ticket? controversy continues to rage, even as Manitoba?s energy minister doesn?t feel bad ??or indeed, that there?s a conflict of interest ??about getting his seats gratis from a gas company.

The freedom that we take for granted comes with a high price. The human spirit yearns to wander unfettered through the obstacle course of life. The freedom to determine one?s own destiny is often taken as a given.

But there are those that would suppress liberty and deny the right of self-determination.

And it is for that reason that it is often necessary to defend human rights with more than mere words. As there are those that would forcibly assault freedom, there must also be a willingness to defend it with force.

Memorial Day is the official recognition of the ultimate sacrifice made by the brave men and women that paid for the liberty that we enjoy. Today we honor them in a formal capacity.

But we should also honor them the other 364 days of the year. It is because of their willingness to face the enemy head-on that we have the quality of life that we enjoy today.

The families of the fallen must live with their loss every day. They need our support and condolences on an ongoing basis.

We must never forget. We must never ignore.

And we must NEVER take our freedom for granted.

No ICS for Xperia Play, other Sony devices to get the update next week

Delivering a blow to Sony Xperia Play users, the Japanese manufacturer
has announced that Xperia Play will not be getting the Android
4.0 update. Company has cited its inability to provide stable gaming
performance on ICS as the key reason for taking the decision.

Sony had earlier promised to release Ice Cream Sandwich update for every smartphone in their 2011 Xperia smartphone line-up, but now Xperia Play users will be left out.

"We have concluded that a consistent and stable experience, particularly with gaming, cannot be guaranteed for this smartphone on Ice Cream Sandwich - therefore, we will not make the Android 4.0 upgrade available for Xperia Play," company stated on its official blog.

News is not so grim for buyers of other smartphones in the Xperia line-up; company confirmed that Xperia arc, Xperia neo, Xperia mini, Xperia mini pro, Xperia pro, Xperia active and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman will receive the ICS updates starting from next week.

Company will be pushing out Android 4.0.4 to these smartphones.

Sony has also revealed the status of updates for its 2012 line-up. According to the company, Xperia S will be the first smartphone to get the Android 4.0 update, starting from the end of June. Xperia P update will follow next, whilst Xperia U will get ICS it a little later in Q3.

Golf-"Luke fever" takes over at carnival-like Wentworth

VIRGINIA WATER, England | Sat May 26, 2012 8:00pm BST

VIRGINIA WATER, England May 26 (Reuters) - 'Luke, Luke' cried the fans after Luke Donald took a two-shot lead in the PGA Championship third round with a masterful display under a scorching sun and swirling winds on Saturday.

The stretched-out chanting of his name sounds like booing but is anything but.

"It's nice to have your own chant," said Donald (69) after carding one of only three sub-70 rounds on a typically testing Wentworth day to wind up with an 11-under tally of 205.

"I've never seen as many people in the crowd as this, even at a British Open," he told reporters after a Saturday record total of 25,176 watched the action at the intimidating West Course just outside London.

Donald will grab the world number one ranking back from Rory McIlroy if he retains the PGA title on Sunday that propelled him to top spot for a long spell last year.

The Englishman spent 40 uninterrupted weeks at number one from late May 2011 and also went on to become the first player to win the orders of merit on both sides of the Atlantic.

The 34-year-old need only finish eighth on his own to usurp McIlroy and although he has his critics because of an unspectacular playing style, his method bore fruit on an extremely tricky day for scoring.

"This is a tough place and it demands a huge amount of patience," said Donald. "It's not necessarily geared towards the bombing long-hitter."

'MR PLOD'

Donald has been nicknamed 'Mr Plod' for the way he plots his way round courses but there was nothing boring about his majestic six-iron to 15 feet at the par-five fourth that left fans open-jawed with admiration.

"That's a tough putt but I'm sure he'll make birdie," Donald's wife Diane said to a friend as she craned her neck for a glimpse of the golf.

Her husband duly obliged and moments later he was top of the leaderboard after overnight pacesetter James Morrison scored an ugly eight at the same hole.

Donald's only blip came after an unlucky bounce off a spectator at 15 where his ball deflected off a fan's leg into a ditch, causing his solitary bogey of the day.

He was back to his best on the two closing par-five holes, brilliantly saving par on the monstrous 17th before steering in a birdie putt at the last.

Expect to hear the 'Luke, Luke' cries again on Sunday. (Editing by Tony Jimenez)

Egypt's Brotherhood would keep Israel treaty-Carter

By Tom Pfeiffer

CAIRO May 26 (Reuters) - The Muslim Brotherhood may seek to modify, but will not destroy, Egypt's 33-year-old peace treaty with Israel, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter said on Saturday.

Carter, 87, was speaking after initial vote tallies put the Brotherhood's candidate ahead in the first round of Egypt's presidential election, which his Carter Center helped monitor.

The U.S. statesman, who brought together Israeli leader Menachem Begin and Egypt's Anwar Sadat in 1978 to agree the Camp David accords which led to a 1979 treaty, said he had held long discussions with senior Brotherhood figures in Egypt this week.

"My opinion is that the treaty will not be modified in any unilateral way," Carter said at a news conference in Cairo to present the preliminary findings of his election monitors.

Official results in Egypt's first free leadership election are due on Tuesday, but informal tallies put the Brotherhood's Mohamed Mursi and Mubarak's last Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq in the lead. If confirmed, they would fight a run-off in June.

Hamdeen Sabahy, a leftist who has championed Palestinian resistance against Israel, was running a close third.

The peace treaty remains a lynchpin of U.S./Middle East policy and, despite its unpopularity with many Egyptians, was staunchly upheld by President Hosni Mubarak until his overthrow last year in a popular uprising.

The Brotherhood, long suppressed under Mubarak, is vehemently critical of Israel, and its Palestinian offshoot Hamas rules the Gaza Strip. Israeli officials have watched political turmoil since Mubarak's overthrow with growing wariness. ? Continued...

It was a gift many moons ago [at least 30 years]. I just found it while going through some stuff that's been packed away for a bunch of years.

I thought it was quite unique when we got it and I still think it's a pretty good conversation piece.

Anyone interested in making one, let me know and I'll send the dimensions. I think it would look really nice in cherry or birds eye maple.

Didn't notice the title of the thread before I posted. Of course it should say WINE.

So you want to be a Human Resources professional ...

So you want to be a Human Resources professional?

?

Human Resources Management (HRM) is one of the hardest business arenas into which to get established, especially at a management level. So many (predominantly female) have to work their way up through the ranks, including paying dues as a ?grunge level staff member? (e.g., HR clerical assistant). I had to start as a entry-level generalist, even though I had a Master?s Degree in Adult Education with a focus on Training and Development in Human Resources.

?

If you are in a military retirement town (like I am, near Norfolk), you are also in competition with many military retirees with degrees in HR (but unfortunately are not really versed or practiced in the commercial world of HR). In the military, those in HR functions perform mostly administrative work. In the corporate-world, HRMs have oversight of benefits, compensation plans, legal compliance, training and development, annual evaluations, communications, and payroll. In the military, the federal government deals with many of these oversight functions versus the military veteran HRM. (This is not to downgrade HRM service members, especially those who have degrees; there is a huge amount of compliance in the private, commercial industry to which they haven?t been exposed as a government employee.)

?

Yes ? there are limited opportunities, as I noted above for the competition. You could have an ?in? for getting an HR position a little higher than a clerical job. If you have background and skills in accounting, payroll, recruiting, or training, those should open many doors in companies which need an HR person who also monitors, regulates, and has financial decision-making responsibility in those functions. Another niche would be Social Media, with the capability of unique sourcing skills, which would qualify you for HR-related public relations (company branding as employer of choice) or recruiting and headhunting. Work yourself into a job with those niche qualities and experience, then aim towards parallel or higher positions as a HRM with more mainline tasks in the HR realm.

?

Ideas to provide ? foot-in-the-door? experience to add another resume bullet:

?

  • Visit your local Retail Alliance, Chamber of Commerce, and Better Business Bureaus. Create your own ?internship? by offering your services as a Payroll/HR/Recruiter/Social Media Manager. If you can afford to do it for free, do so; otherwise, ask for minimum wage. (DOL law states internships must be paid if intern is predominantly learning about job functions, while unpaid internships must be ?in training? for a larger percentage of time on the job.)
  • If you can?t find enough interest from those business venues, go to www.MeetUp.com, and look for entrepreneurial business groups. Many of these groups have free membership. Announce your desires to obtain an internship (paid/unpaid) to add HR experience to your resume or to get a job. If members don?t necessarily have a need, they might know someone else. There are some Job Club groups on this site, also.
  • Look in non-profit organizations, private schools, local government offices who might need an intern for niche skills; work for a few months (length of time related to salary required).
  • Find a mentor. Obtaining an HR mentor who can meet with you for lunch or let you job-shadow for about a week might be helpful to learning and experience for a resume bullet as well as a recommendation.
  • Don?t look only in Monster.com or CareerBuilder for jobs. Find other job posting boards. Search LinkedIn groups (job boards, career, and trades) to join discussions in group?s or to review job postings. Answer questions related to HR in the LinkedIn Q&A forum ? see who comments ? then reach out to touch base.
  • Query in WordPress for job notices or job boards and search out headhunters and recruiters who place folks in jobs of all levels.
  • Don?t overlook Temp Work Agencies for jobs with HR or that niche experience.
  • Look for HR or Personnel Management events, Recruiting and Career Search Job Fairs, or even Job Clubs in Facebook and LinkedIn. Attend conferences, conventions, state chapters of SHRM, ASTD, and CEBS to network. Use business card info to continue discussions ?off-line.?
  • Don?t ask for a job directly from these new contacts, but ask if they know of anyone with a need for an entry-level management HRM or niche specialists that may lead to a HR mid-management level job.
  • ?

A 1970 research study by Mark Granovetter demonstrated it?s not your close personal contacts who can network you a job (16.7%), it?s primarily through ?barely know them acquaintances.? The economy still is ?down? for many job searches and the human resources fields are often affected a little harder because some companies feel an HR person is one of the non-revenue positions they can spare. Use these ideas to open doors (and windows) to that Human Resources (or other!) position you are working to break into the field.

Ford says Sync is now in 4 million vehicles, takes a moment to talk up Focus Electric

Since its debut in 2007, Ford and Microsoft's Sync infotainment system has made its way into several of the auto maker's models, including the 2012 Focus Electric. At this week's Future in Review tech conference, Ford announced that more than 4 million vehicles in the US have its entertainment platform on board. In addition to dropping that stat, the company talked up its new EV, which it says can charge in half the time it takes for the Nissan Leaf. Maybe Ford caught wind of Nissan's just-announced e-NV200 all-electric van and wanted to remind those in the market for an EV that a blue box isn't the only option.

LAS VEGAS (May 29, 2012) ? The measure of a great bartender is more than what he or she serves up in a glass. ABOUT DISARONNO

The legend of DISARONNO dates back to 1525, when Renaissance artist and Leonardo da Vinci pupil Bernardino Luini was commissioned to paint a fresco in Saronno. To portray the Madonna of Miracles, he chose as his muse a beautiful local innkeeper. She repaid the honor by giving the artist a flask of a fragrant and delicate amber liquor known as amaretto. With its distinctive stopper and iconic square faceted Murano glass bottle, DISARONNO is now the world?s favorite Italian liquor, regarded as an icon of style and sophistication and appreciated as a ?favorite mixer? for contemporary social settings--DISARONNO Sour, anyone?--as well as neat or on the rocks.
